Money Road

This day would go down in Road Gold history as the day when Money Road was discovered and named.

In the evening we venture out towards a garden centre in the dark, thinking that if the car park is open and if the lights are on, we’d have a good chance of striking Road Gold. On the way there, I find a pound coin at a motorway crossing – the seventh to be found and then a 2 pence piece. Our journey is already worth it, but before we go to the garden centre, we decide to walk a little bit further as we see a bus stop and some road crossings, good potential money spots. That’s when it calls to us.

We spot a closed road and behind the fencing a 5p glistens. Working out how to get to it, we find a way in and on that road, I find 17 coins totalling 33p, Tiff finds 5 coins totalling £0.11. On our way back, she finds another 1p. This road is just a small piece of access road that seemed to have been constructed before the housing but the houses were never started. So the road was simply fenced off. Coins were everywhere and we couldn’t believe our luck there – we coined it “Money Road” and it became our second hoard destination.

Earlier in the day, Tiff also found 2p – what a day for Moneying !

This is what we found…

Walking in the Rain

Following a lengthy lull in the game as I had to look after my brother’s dog and he was too much of a handful to do Road Golding with, the game was back on !

Tiff really wanted to go out on a long walk and so we decided to chance the weather, which was edging on raining, and walk on up to Tesco Quedgeley – just over 2 miles distance from her place.

It sounded like a great idea in theory but in practice, our choice of footwear wasn’t ideal. Both of us suffered from “soggy foot” that day. At near 5 miles of walking with wet feet, not the best.

In any event, we achieved Road Gold greatness and sluiced 63 pence from the outing. 35p for me and 28p for Tiff.
Including 2p under a McDonalds drive thru window on the day of the theory of that being a good spot to find coins.

Earlier in the day too, we found 4p between us from inside Tesco Quedgeley.

Magical Phone Box

Tonight we went out for my friend Ryan’s birthday do. A tasty little get together at one of Gloucester’s finest drinking establishments, the Regal 😉

We knew there’d be money on this outing and we weren’t disappointed. On our way from where we parked the car to the pub, we passed a phone box and Tiff chanced her arm. She was rewarded for her courage with a shiny ten pence piece. The night was a winner already !

I went on to find two 5p’s in the Regal, one in the middle of the pub (yes I did bend down and pick that up in front of all the “trendy” people). The second I picked up from the toilet floor. Oh yes, we stoop that low for the game !

On our way out, Tiff eagle eyes a penny in one of the arcade machine’s coin tray. This night is paying off ! It got better.

As we walked back to the car, we passed the same phone box and I said “this time it’s my go”, expecting nothing from the same coin return. There was only a bloody pound coin in there this time ! The fairies were on my side this time.

Win !

5, Half a Five and the Fake Five

Out on another evening plop/pee walk for Nibberinio, Tiff finds 5p.

I find a nice 5p, a destroyed 5p and what we came to term a “blank” – a piece of metal that to the focused eye looks like a 5p from head height. When you pick it up, you realise it’s just a piece of metal masquerading as a coin. The swine !

I also found a penny – so overall, the walk was eventful again !

They Pay, We Play

Another long walk around Brockworth with Nibbler (our dog)….

…We end up back at Tesco’s, the scene of previous victories. Tiff checks the coin return of the kids arcade machines outside and lo and behold, she hits a mini-jackpot. Two 5’s, a 2p and a 10p. She loved that win.

I found 2p on the same walk.

5 Gold Rings

Or more accurately, 5 Gold Coins. The 5th pound coin was found by me when we took a cheeky little drive up to Tesco Quedgeley. It was found, as a lot of coins seem to be in the grit by a crossing. Nice.

Later on I found a penny inside Tesco’s then Tiff found a tidy little 5p in the car park. My God we rock 😉
